{”If you take on only those individuals you understand, the company will never get people better than you are, so constantly remember that you often find superb people among those you don’t particularly like” - Soichiro Honda.} The individual best thing you can do for your practice is to enrol great people to “play” on your T.E.A.M. - having smart, aspiring, and hard-working individuals under your leadership will make your work easier, more successful, and more profitable. With time, individuals improve and the great people would become super heroes and within a short span of time a couple of them on your T.E.A.M. could take your practice to such heights that you become the number one choice in the market. It is not a very smooth and simple job to recruit super people but it is worth the trouble nonetheless and here are 4 crucial aspects of it which I have learnt.

Make the commitment: Something worth doing is worth doing well. It is impossible to hunt out superb individuals when you are not ready to spend any time on the effort. I would be the last person to toil through the interview process and I am always in a rush so I get hold of the first respectable person who walks in, now this would never get you what you want.
Search for the right qualities: Brainpower is good but that would be number three in my list of priorities. The two most critical aspects, which should be present, are deportment and flair. It is nearly unworkable to teach some one how to have a decent deportment and character so get rid of cheerleaders and killjoys.
Flee flaws: By and large, you’ll see a T.E.A.M. candidate at his or her best when you interview him or her. In case you find there is something, which you do not quite like, do not overlook it, particularly if it is related to the qualities required for the job. During the interview I have recognized that some of the individual mannerisms are only a tiny teaser in the overall personality, which could be followed by more, which has to be handled at a later stage.
Do not pay too much interest to any particular experience: Of the various attributes, which you are looking for in a candidate, particular experiences are not very fundamental to me. Yes, it’s good to know that the individual you employ can do the technical work from day one - but on day seven or day fourteen, you’ll wish you had opted for the better, though perhaps new and unproven, prospects.
Finally, you must be continually recruiting for new “Team Players”, even when you do not have a post available. Create a “job bank” folder for each position on your Team and collect the resume from potential prospects. So in future when you wish to alter a member or you wish to heighten your team further, open your ‘job bank’ folder and call all the potential prospects for a group interview. Naturally, along the way, you may just find someone that is better for the Team than a up-to-date Player. Yes, never let a good talent go, hold on to him or her, whenever practicable even when you are trying to alter things.
